NEW MLS DUES PAYMENT INCENTIVEYour Association is aware of the challenges each member is facing daily. We also recognize that it's essential that we continue to project a positive attitude and keep working hard. There is no other Professional Organization that charges so little for membership. In addition, we all realize that being a REALTORᆴ is very special and affords us a freedom not available in other careers.
For all those members who have paid the MLS fees that were due July 1st and have no other outstanding fees as of August 31, 2008, the Association will offer a special payment plan for the National, State and Local Membership Dues that will be owed on October 1, 2008. If you haven't paid your MLS fees, you will want to do it right away so you don't miss out on the incentive plan. You also don't want to lose your access to MLS due to non payment of fees. MLS restrictions will automatically be placed by the computer beginning August 15th.
More information will be given to you regarding the Membership Dues incentive, but it's important that those who haven't paid the MLS fees do so right away to qualify. Fees can be paid on the Association Website 24 hours a day.

President Bush Signs Housing Bill On July 30, 2008, President Bush signed H.R. 3221, the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008. It is now Public law 110-289. The legislation contains significant modifications to the FHA housing program, some modification (but not elimination) of downpayment assistance programs, a new regulator for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, a contingency plan to shore up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, new programs to assist distressed borrowers refinance their mortgages to avoid foreclosure and a new $7500 tax credit to provide an incentive for first-time homebuyers.
The massive legislation has numerous retroactive, immediate and prospective effective dates, depending on the provision. A general summary of major features of the legislation can be found at REALTOR.org in the Government Affairs section. Links from that overall summary, listed below, will provide more details in summary, Q&A and chart formats. NAR will continue to add information as the various agencies provide more details on the administration of the new law.
